Abstract:
To provide a method and apparatus for lighting protection formed on a composite surface of an aircraft.
A dielectric coating 406 is formed on the composite surface 408 in which the dielectric coating covers a metal feature 412 exposed on the composite surface. A metal adhesion promoter 404 is applied in a pattern on the dielectric coating and over additional areas of the composite surface including a grounding feature, to form a metal adhesion promoter layer 404. A metal coating 402 is formed on the metal adhesion promoter layer to create a path from an area including the metal feature 412 to the grounding feature.
