To provide a method and an apparatus for locating a mobile robot which precisely measures location, moving distance, and moving direction of the mobile robot itself, for reduced consumption of a sensor cell.
The apparatus for locating the mobile robot comprises at least one sensor cell 304 which has a unique location information and is installed in an operation region of a mobile robot 406, and a sensor 308 so attached to the mobile robot as to acquire the location information from the sensor cell to measure the current location of the mobile robot. The method for locating the mobile robot includes a step in which at least one sensor cell having a unique location information is set in the operation region of the mobile robot, and steps (S314 and S316) in which the location information for the sensor cell is acquired by the sensor attached to the mobile robot to measure the current location of the mobile robot.
