Title:
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR LOW RESIDENCE TIME REDYING OF TOBACCO
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3807551
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for rapid drying and reordering of tobacco in large quantities which are processed in a short amount of time and in very little floor space.
SOLUTION: The method for rapid drying, cooling and reordering of the tobacco comprises a process for placing the tobacco on a continuous conveyor belt in fixed thickness, a process for transporting the tobacco on the conveyor through a dryer using a fluidized bed of heated air, a process for transporting the tobacco on the conveyor through a cooler using a fluidized bed of peripheral air, a process for transferring the tobacco to a steam tunnel having a vibration conveyor and a process for reordering the tobacco in the steam tunnel. The process for transporting the tobacco through the dryer has a process for sending air heated to a first fixed temperature to a first heating zone, a process for circulating the air in the first heating zone, a process for sending air heated to a second fixed temperature from the first heating zone to a plurality of downstream heating zones, a process for circulating the air in a plurality of the downstream heating zones, a process for reducing the water content of the tobacco to about 5%, a process for raising the temperature of the tobacco from about 200°F (about 93.3°C) to about 280°F (about 137.8°C).
