Abstract:
Laminate of glass and plastic and a method and a device for producing the same. To obtain an impact resistant laminate the glass in the laminate is compressed over its entire cross section by means of the plastic which is in a state of elastic tensile strain. The forces between the glass and the plastic are transferred by means of a layer of non cold creeping adhesive between them. The laminate is prepared by joining the glass to the plastic with a non cold creeping adhesive whereby the joint is kept free from shear forces during the entire gluing and curing of the adhesive whereafter the glass, after completed curing of the adhesive, is subjected to compression by means of contracting forces from the plastic. The contracting forces in the plastic can e.g. be obtained by mechanical stretching before or during the gluing or by gluing at an elevated temperature. A device for producing the laminate comprises a frame (3) for supporting the plastic material (4) and means (2 or 6) for applying a distributed bending force essentially perpendicular to the plastic material and between the points of support.
