A long cylindrical bamboo is cut in the longitudinal direction, and bamboo base plates 1 are formed by cutting these cut bamboo materials in the circumferential direction, then a plurality of notches 2 with a cut surface of a predetermined cutting angle in the longitudinal direction of each bamboo base plate 1 are made at distances of chopsticks in the width direction being the aforementioned circumferential direction and, subsequently, the end of the bamboo base plates 1 in the longitudinal direction are cut in the width direction and the end in the longitudinal direction between the notches 2 is cut, and each bamboo base plates 1 or chopsticks-like bamboo 13 cut out by two- directional cutting operation is cut in a predetermined thickness.
