To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, to manufacture a high-quality liquid crystal display device by properly arranging spacer particles.
The method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes: an applying step of applying an anti-sticking liquid to a pixel region on a transparent substrate; a spacer region generation step of generating a spacer region by discharging a spacer particle dispersion liquid to a region other than the pixel region on the transparent substrate by an inkjet system; a prebaking step of heating the transparent substrate at a temperature of ≤90°C to vaporize a volatile component of the spacer particle dispersion liquid and fix spacer particles in the spacer region onto the substrate; an anti-sticking liquid removal step of removing the anti-sticking liquid applied to the transparent substrate; and a postbaking step of heating the transparent substrate at a temperature of about 200°C to firmly fix the spacer particles in the spacer region onto the transparent substrate.
