To obtain a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a long member having a cross section of a substantially V-shaped part in which a risk of applying a large burden to a forming die and a formed article is reduced, and an unintentional recess is hard to be formed in the bottom of a finished long member.
A method for manufacturing a long member includes the steps of: preparing a pair of first forming dies intersecting at an angle α°, and a second forming die contacting and separating to/from the first forming dies and linearly movable in one direction; forming a pair of first inclined parts W2 in which connection ends being one end of both are connected with each other so that mutual inner surfaces intersect at the angle α° in a base material, by making the second forming die come close to the first forming dies, and sandwiching a base material W between a pair of first die surfaces and a pair of second die surfaces; and forming a pair of second inclined parts in which the angle formed by mutual inner surfaces is β° in the base material, by sandwiching the portions apart from the connection ends of the pair of first inclined parts between a pair of fourth die surfaces 34 and a pair of sixth die surfaces 42, respectively, while sandwiching the pair of first inclined parts with a pair of third die surfaces 33 and a pair of fifth die surfaces 41.
