To provide a method of reducing the initialization process time of a phase change optical disk which makes recording marks by heating the disk by irradiating the same with a laser beam to change the properties (crystalline state and amorphous state) of a recording layer and utilizes a difference in the reflectivity of a reading-out laser by a difference between the states and to provide a method and apparatus capable of obtaining a crystallized recording medium of high reflectivity after a deposition process before performing the initialization processing.
The method of manufacturing the optical information recording medium is provided with a process step of heating a substrate and recording layer material by irradiating the substrate and the recording layer material with light of a wavelength absorbed by the substrate and the recording layer material simultaneously with the formation of the recording layer within the same vacuum chamber in manufacturing of the phase change type optical information recording medium which is reversibly changed in the crystalline state between the crystalline state and the amorphous state by irradiation with the laser beam.
