To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing a strip electrode without curving or undulation.
In this method for manufacturing a strip electrode, the strip electrode is manufactured from a strip material 13, in which active material is applied in the lengthwise direction continuously on one part of the widthwise direction of a long metallic foil and a nonapplied part 13a extending in the lengthwise direction on the remainder of the widthwise direction exists. Both faces of the strip material 13 are compressed with a pair of compression rolls 12, and the compressed strip material 13 is wound by a winding roll 14 while giving a tension. Between the compression rolls 12 and the winding roll 14, the strip material 13 is pressed and contacted to a leveling roll 16 and the nonapplied part 13a is extended concentratedly thereby. In the above manufacturing method, since the nonapplied part is extended concentratedly and corrected, the strip material is corrected reasonably without applying an excess tension to the material.
