To reduce the production costs of a small-lot watch dial and to shorten its delivery time by a method wherein fitting holes in a plurality of diameters are formed sequentially by a preliminarily prepared press mold even with reference to watch dials in different sizes and outer shapes.
In the method and the apparatus for manufacturing the watch dial, numerical values of an X-Y coordinate system of an outside diameter and a formation position of each fitting hole for a type-setting leg or the like with reference to a watch dial blank 301 are input from a data input part 203, its formation order is decided by a control means 207, the watch dial is transferred sequentially to a first press unit 11 dealing with a small hole, a second press unit 13 dealing with a large hole and a third press unit 15 for cutout formation, and each fitting hole is formed sequentially in a position corresponding to the input numerical values of the X-Y coordinate system. It is not required to manufacture a mold for each watch dial to be manufactured newly, the small-lot production of the watch dial can be achieved, the trial production costs of the watch dial are reduced, and the delivery time of the watch dial can be shortened.
