METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING ABNORMALITY OF INSTRUMENT

PURPOSE: To accurately detect abnormality in both of an instrument of which fluctuation of surface temperature of the body due to the load fluctuation is small and an instrument of which the fluctuation is great during the normal driving by comparing relative intensity distributions of intensities of infrared radiation which are detected during the normal driving and during the monitoring thereof.
CONSTITUTION: Intensity of infrared radiation from a surface of an instrument at the time when a motor 10 to be monitored is normally driven is taken to an image-inputting section 30 by means of an infrared radiation camera 20 to be stored into a normal time heat image memory section 50 via an image data transmitting exchange section 40. When the monitoring of the instrument is started, the image data is transmitted to a monitoring time heat image memory section 60 via the exchange section 40 to be stored in accordance with the instruction from an operator instruction input section 90. A two-dimensional relative coefficient operation section 70 fetches the heat image data in the normal time and monitoring time to execute the two-dimensional relative operation in accordance with a control signal from a monitoring control operation section 80. The resultant two-dimensional relative coefficient is supplied to the operation section 80 to calculate an abnormality degree of the instrument so that whether the instrument is abnormal or not is judged and the judged result is displayed 95.
