Abstract:
PURPOSE: To control the operation satisfactorily, by a method wherein an actuator is operated in accordance with the movement of an optical waveguide. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber 12 is buried in a structure 10 of a system 1 and a means which detects and commands the change in a light signal supplied from a laser 14 is provided in the system. A detector 16 receives a rear scattering light which is taken out from the system 1 by a coupler. A signal processing electronic circuit 17 raises the alarm if a specific limit value which is set beforehand is exceeded. The optical information is supplied to a microprocessor 30 through an A/D converter 28. A control signal from the microprocessor 30 is applied to piezoelectric elements 34-36 through a D/A converter 32. An actuator member using the elements 34-36 moves the structure 10, the motion of the structure 10 is further monitored by a light transmitted through the optical fiber 12, and the monitoring information is processed by the microprocessor 30 again through the detector 16. Communication units 20 and 21 receive and transmit signals from the remote wireless equipment.
