Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for transmitting and switching packets in an optical communication network by which synchronized time division multiplexing can be realized. CONSTITUTION: Packets C1, C2, C3, and C4 are transmitted at a prescribed rate, inputted to a mixer 13 directly or through delay elements 110, 11, and 12, and are time-division multiplexed. The transmitting rates of the packets is determined by the line occupation time. In addition, the influence of a central device reaches the arrangement of time windows and all packets have switching matrices at appropriate timing. Thus, synchronous time division multiplexing can be performed.
