PURPOSE: To uniformalize the press-contacting force between steel strip and a coater roll in the direction of width, by installing electromagnets to the coater roll side at the backside surface of the steel strip, and by sucking the steel strip to the electromagnets.
CONSTITUTION: Gate type fixing benches 6 are provided on both sides of a coater roll 4 to be used for painting the backside surface of steel strip, and electromagnets 8 which are connected to a power source 11 through a variable resistor 9 and a switch 10, are installed on beams 7 extended along the direction of the width. Therefore, when the switch 10 is turned on to perform painting, the electromagnets 8 suck steel strip 1 and the steel strip 1 is pressed against the coater roll 4. Thus the distribution of thickness of coated film in the direction of width is uniformalized, because the steel strip 1 is pressed against the coater roll 4 as in the case when the surface of the steel strip is pushed by backing-up rolls, etc.
