In the method and the apparatus for pouring the metal, the molten metal is continuously poured into a vessel at a prescribed pouring speed from two pieces of nozzles having large and small cross-sectional areas and thereafter, the molten metal is continuously poured with only the nozzle having small cross-sectional area and thereafter, intermittently poured. The lower surface of the nozzle having large cross-sectional area is positioned above the molten metal surface in the above vessel and the distance between the lower surface of this nozzle and the molten metal surface, is made to be not shorter than the distance, with which the molten metal column with surface tension of the molten metal poured from the above nozzle is formed between the above lower surface and the molten metal surface.
