To provide a method and an apparatus for on-press imaging lithographic printing capable of rapidly printing many printed products of a clear image at a low cost by dealing with digital image data.
The method for on-press imaging lithographic printing comprises the steps of mounting a plate material on a plate cylinder of a printer, directly forming the image on the plate material based on a signal of image data to form a printing plate and subsequently lithographic printing the plate by using its state. In this case, the image is formed on the material by using an ink jet method having a recording head for discharging an ink containing at least a lipophilic component. If a fault occurs, the formation of the image is stopped and/or a cause of the fault is removed.
