PURPOSE: To sort the size of balls and to count the number of balls without influences such as dirt by making surface pressure of these balls generate by the contraction of sponge balls when the balls pass through the narrow passage and detecting the received pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A pressure receiving sensor 2 is attached to the surface of the wall of a passage 1 with facing its pressure receiving surface to the inside of the passage. The pressure receiving sensor 2 is a filmlike plate and its deformation should be detected as the quantity of electric conversion with a distortion gauge or a semiconductor gauge. An amplifier converter 5 detects signals from the sensor, converts the detected signals into the quantity of electric conversion at the time when balls pass through the pressure receiving surface and transmits the converted value to an operational processor 10 which generates counting and sorting output. If the measurement of the passage is fixed, the outputs from the pressure receiving sensor 2 are varied according to the size of balls and the size can be classified by setting their levels. In addition, peaks over or under the setting value can be counted up. Thus, the above-mentioned constitution makes it possible to sort the size of balls and count the number of balls without influences such as dirt.
