PURPOSE: To obtain a predetermined patterned coated surface by bonding a coating synthetic material to the first surface of a substrate and pressing the substrate to a patterned surface and bringing the second surface on the substrate into contact with the patterned surface and bonding a pressure pipe to the first surface in a lateral direction.

CONSTITUTION: A substrate 1 is passed through the gap between a marking roll 9 and the coating bonding roll 12 suspended in the coating substance, that is, the ink forming substance, that is, the ink 11 within a bath 10. The roll 12 bonds the ink 11 to the surface 2 of the substrate 1 and a doctor blade 13 spreads the ink 11 (for the depressed patterns on the surface of the roll 9) to the surface 2 of the substrate. An achieved contrast degree depends on the bending properties of the substrate 1, the depth of the surface cavities of the roll 9 and the pressure applied to the substrate 1 by the doctor blade 13. The surface hardness of the roll 9, the rheology of the coating substance, that is, the ink forming substance, that is, the ink compsn. and a coating speed are also factors to be considered.
