To provide a method and apparatus for producing a seamless belt which is used in the intermediate transfer belt of a full color copying machine and good in circumference accuracy and thickness accuracy and can be smoothed by removing folds and stripes.
The inner surface 11 of a metal cylinder 10 is mirror-finished and the outer surface is covered with a heating jacket 20. A pressure container 30, which is expanded by applying pressure to the inside, is installed in the cylinder 10. A tube 50 for the belt is inserted between the cylinder 10 and the container 30 and the container 30 is expanded by being supplied with air. The tube 50 is softened by being heated by the cylinder 10 and pressed to the inner surface 11 by the container 30. The mirror surface of the cylinder 10 is transferred to the outer surface of the tube 50, the folds and unevenness are eliminated, and a very smooth surface is obtained.
