Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a uniform and fine structure by adding a specific amt. of water to a TPE-melt having specific temp. and pressure to violently mix the whole during multi-stage shearing processing and passing the resulting mixture through a second shearing processing stage to mix the same and extruding the mixture through a molding nozzle while regulating the temp. thereof to foam the same.
CONSTITUTION: TPE is charged in an extruder in a granular form to be melted and water is added to the resulting TPE-melt having a temp. of about 180-210°C and a pressure of about 100-120 bar from a nozzle 5 in an amt. of 5% by wt. of melt flowing quantity and a TPE-melt/water mixture is compressed by a first projected part 8. The mixture receives violent shearing stress in the gap between the projected part 8 and the wall of a cylinder and water is finely distributed. Thereafter, the mixture is pressed by a blister 12 in a toothed rim region 9 and water is further finely distributed. The mixture is subjected to the heat exchange with the inner wall of the cylinder through a toothed disc 14 in a mixing stage 13 to be regulated in temp. and pressed by a molding nozzle 15.
