Abstract:
To provide a purified liquid with a high-purity zirconium that has a reduced content of titanium impurities in cases where zirconium is separated and purified from yttrium.SOLUTION: A method for purifying zirconium according to the present invention comprises a dissolution step of dissolving zirconium, titanium and yttrium in a dissolving acidic solution to prepare a solution; an adsorption step of bringing the solution into contact with a cation exchange resin in order for zirconium ions to be selectively adsorbed onto the cation exchange resin; a washing step of washing the cation exchange resin after the adsorption step; an ion exchange step, following the washing step, of allowing the cation exchange resin to pass through an aqueous solution of an inorganic acid salt of an alkali metal or alkali earth metal for ion exchange from a hydrogen ion type to an alkali metal type or an alkali earth metal type; and a recovery step, following the ion exchange step, of allowing the cation exchange resin to pass through a recovery liquid to give a recovery passage liquid containing a complex of the zirconium ions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
