To provide a method and an apparatus for recording music data which are capable of easily and reliably recording music data for which the user does not feel unnaturalness when the music data is played back.

A system controller 5 acquires track information from a CD loaded in a DVD-CD deck 2 to determine whether sound data recorded on the loaded CD is nonstop CD data. It is determined whether the sound data is nonstop CD data, based on whether audio data on a track 0 recorded between tracks is audio data or silent data. If the sound data is nonstop CD data, the music data of all songs recorded on the CD loaded in the DVD-CD deck 2 is recorded, into a recording apparatus 3, as a virtual single piece of music data in which all the songs are arranged and connected in order of recording. Also, music information is created based on the acquired track information, and the music information is recorded into the recording apparatus 3 in association with the recorded nonstop recorded data.
