PURPOSE: To obtain expensive quick lime from limestone by placing a U-shaped duct in an exhaust gas recovering system on a converter, charging limestone granules into the duct and vibrating the granules during refining by blowing so that the granules are effectively brought into contact with exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: A U-shaped duct 4 is placed in an exhaust gas recovering system 2 on a converter 1. Limestone granules are charged into the bottom of the duct 4 from a charge hole 6 and calcined with exhaust gas from the converter 1 to produce quick lime. During refining by blowing, the limestone granules on the bottom of the duct 4 are vibrated by vibrating a heat exchange bed 5 with a vibrator so that the granules are effectively brought into contact with exhaust gas. During the suspension of blowing, vibration is stopped to prevent the cooling of the limestone granules. The produced quick lime is discharged from a discharge part 7.
