Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the accumulation of uranium from sea water in high efficiency, by using a cylindrical adsorption bed furnished with adsorbent plates in plural stages, attaching the adsorption bed to a float rotatably around the axis and rotating the adsorption bed in sea water.

CONSTITUTION: The cylindrical adsorption bed 2 composed of the shaft 12 and a number of parallel adsorbent plates 11 attached to the shaft 12 in plural stages, is attached rotatably and detachably to the float 3, and the adsorption bed is immersed in sea water. The adsorbent plates 11 are rotated around the shaft 12 by external power, e.g. the wind mill 1 to effect the contact of the adsorbent plates 11 with the uranium in sea water. The cylindrical adsorption bed 2 adsorbed with uranium is extracted from the float 3 by the derrick 5, washed with water, and immersed in the desorption liquid in the uranium-recovery pool 6 to desorb the absorbed uranium. The adsorption bed 2 after the desorption treatment is washed with water and attached again to the float 3. The uranium in sea water can be collected in high efficiency.
