Title:
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING AMMONIA NITROGEN IN WASTE WATER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3700846
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for removing ammonia nitrogen in waste water to make a stable treatment possible without the need for facilities for adding chemicals, such as alkalis and acids, and injecting steam and without the danger of the extinction of activated sludge by erroneous injection of the chemicals.
SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with an ion exchange vessel 1 which is disposed with a cation exchange membrane 11 between an anode chamber 21 and a cathode chamber 22 and is disposed to treat the waste water, a decarbonator 2 which is disposed to discharge the carbon dioxide produced in the anode chamber and to introduce the treated water after the discharge into the cathode chamber, and an ammonia removal column 3 which is disposed to discharge the gaseous ammonia produced in the cathode chamber. The waste water is introduced from the anode chamber side and the electrodes 9 and 10 of the ion exchange vessel are energized, by which the carbon dioxide produced in the anode chamber is discharged from the decarbonator 2 and the gaseous ammonia produced in the cathode chamber by the energization is discharged from the column 3.
