PURPOSE: To obtain a removing method for coating of insulator coating without residue by removing the coating from a metal wire by alternately supplying bidirectional pulse currents having different polarities between the insulator- coated metal wire and a discharge electrode, and forming an arc discharge of the wire in a nonmelted state.
CONSTITUTION: Bidirectional pulse currents having different polarities are alternately supplied between an insulator-coated metal wire 2 and a discharge electrode 1, an arc discharge 7 of the metal wire 2 of a nonmelted state is formed, and an insulator coating 4 is removed from the wire 2. For example, an interval between a polyurethane-coated gold-plated Cu wire (OFC, 50μm of diameter) 2 and the electrode 1 is set to 0.05-0.1mm by using an Ag-W electrode. As a step of removing an insulator coating layer 4, a pulse current of 3500V, 150mA, 10msec is supplied between the electrode 1 as a positive side and the wire 2 as a negative side. As cleaning of the electrode 1 and heat treating of a metal wire 5, a pulse current of 50V, 0.1A, 50msec is fed between the electrode 1 as a negative side and the wire 2 as a positive side, and they are alternately continuously repeated 120 times.
