To provide a method for residue-less treatment of substances by discharge energy which does not discharge dioxins and carbon monoxide, does not leave a substance residue, recovers heavy metals, or the like, can discharge a non-polluting exhaust gas, does not affect global warming, and is especially effective for cinders such as incineration ashes, and an apparatus for the method.

In the method, for example, charged treatment substances such as incineration ashes are pyrolyzed to a molecular level by heat generated by discharge energy in a primary discharge cracking furnace 1 and a secondary discharge cracking furnace 2. Carbon monoxide in a gas generated by the pyrolysis is burned by a gas burner 3A. Next, the gas after the burning is subjected to dust collection by using a cyclone 4 and cooled with a cooler 5. Substances in the gas are adsorbed with an adsorbent in adsorption tanks 6-11. The gas after the adsorption of the substances is discharged from a duct 12 fitted with a blower 13.
