To provide a method and an apparatus for rewinding a welding wire which can efficiently correct "bending habit" of a welding wire and can ensure the quality of the welding wire.
A welding wire rewinding apparatus 1 comprises a wire feeding machine 2 with a relatively large-diameter bobbin 3 set therein, a dancer roller device 4 that holds the tension of the welding wire 9 fed and stretched around a fixing-side roller 4a and a moving-side roller 4b, in a predetermined range, a guide wheel device 5 that once loops the welding wire 9 exiting from the dancer roller device 4, a roller correcting machine 6b that continuously corrects the looped welding wire 9, a traverser 6 in which the roller correcting machine 6b is installed and which reciprocates the welding wire in a horizontal direction orthogonal to the travel direction of the welding wire 9 corrected by the roller correcting machine 6b, and a wire winding machine 7 in which a spool 8 having a relatively small diameter for continuously winding the welding wire 9 fed from the traverser 6 is set.
