Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for semi-solidification of a high melting point metallic material, by which high durability of the apparatus can be achieved with a simple structure, and molten metal of the high melting point metallic materials can be fully agitated.
SOLUTION: The molten metal of the metallic material is poured into a cylindrical passage 11 formed by a heat resisting material. At the same time, the passage 11 is rotated. The molten metal relatively moves toward the downstream side of the inner surface of the passage 11, and also relatively moves to the direction perpendicular to the downstream direction because of the rotation of the passage 11. As a result, the molten metal is agitated by the relative movement with respect to the passage 11, and is brought to the semi-solid state made of fine grains.
