Abstract:

To provide a method and an apparatus for separating specific particles with a simple and convenient mechanism and without requiring flow rate adjustment nor treatment for antibodies, for separating collection object particles from suspension including a particle group consisting of at least two kinds of particles by electrophoresis.

In the separation method, an uneven electric field is formed by applying an AC voltage between at least two electrodes provided on a substrate, the particle group is subjected to electrophoresis to draw the particle group to the vicinity between the electrodes, generating local flow in the vicinity between the electrodes, thus, particles other than the collection object are removed from the vicinity between the electrodes, to collect the collection object particles in the vicinity between the electrodes.
