PURPOSE: To cool the steel plate uniformly without deforming it in accordance with a desired heat transfer coefficient by moving reciprocatively a heated steel plate longitudinally and at a prescribed state changing moving speed of steel plate, quantity of spraying water feed water pressure of nozzle spray angle and the like based on the deformtion of steel.
CONSTITUTION: The apparatus is composed of a roll 2 that moves a heated steel plate 4, nozzle 7 in which a shunt distributing water flows having two different vectors is incorporated and the water flows after dividing are collected and infected, a transmission device for changing the spray angle of the nozzle 7 by the displacement of the steel plate 4, and elevating device 6 of the nozzle 7 and the like. The heated steel plate 4 is moved reciprocatively so that the product of a moving speed and the thickness of plate is 20W150mm.m/mm. Cooling water having 5W50l/m2mm per upper and lower surface area of the steel plate 4, and 0.5W20kg/cm2 water pressure 0.5kgW20kg/cm2 is fed to the nozzle 7 to spray into ≤700μm water particle. In accordance with the deformtion of the steel, the spray direction is changed automatically at angle of 0W70° for a vertical line and while preventing the deformation of the steel plate, the amount of water is adjusted to 5W50l/m2.mm between 850W300°C to cool uniformly with a desired heat transfer coefficient.
