PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for stitching a multi-layered article of unvulcanized elastic material, in particular, an article forming at least a part of an unvulcanized tire.

CONSTITUTION: An annular multi-layered article 2 of unvulcanized elastic material, in particular, an article forming at least a part of a tire 2 is placed in a hollow cylindrical body designed to contain a multi-layered article 2 and having a depressed inner surface 5a in contact with the first projection surface 34a of the multi-layered article 2 and further forming a stitching mold 5 reproducing a form of being in inverse relation to the final shape to be given to the multi-layered article 2 in their male and female parts. Furthermore, a stitching mechanism 24 is allowed to be in contact with the second depression surface 34 of the multi-layered article 2 by given forces, and then relative movement between the stitching mechanism 24 and the multi-layered article 2 is generated in order to permit the multi-layered article 2 being in contact with the inner surface 5a of the stitching mold 5 to be stitched by the stitching mechanism 24.
