To provide an apparatus for detection of damages capable of determining the presence of damage of buildings by simple computations and of being provided at a moderate price.

The damage detection apparatus 20 is provided with an acceleration sensor 30 mounted on a structure for outputting measurement signals, corresponding to acceleration generated in the structure; a zero-cross counting part 33 for counting the number of times of zero-crosses, the number of times the measurement signals have changed from positive to negative, or negative to positive within a prescribed time period; and a damage determining part 35 for determining the presence of damages of the structure, on the basis of the number of times of zero-crosses counted.
