To provide a method and an apparatus for thermal transfer recording capable of preventing a material to be transferred from being thermally deformed so that the material will not make a trouble in an operation by a card reader or the like.
In the method and the apparatus for thermal transfer recording, when a receptor layer on an intermediate transfer recording medium is transferred to the material to be transferred, the receptor layer having an image formed thereon is transferred to one of the faces of the material and the receptor layer not having an image or having an image is transferred to the other face. As the transferring of the receptor layers to both of the faces of the material is performed at the same time in such a manner that each condition of the temperature and the pressure is on the equal basis between both of the faces of the material, the influences to both of the faces are balanced with each other so that the deformation of the material is prevented and the material will not make a trouble in the operation by the card reader or the like.
