PURPOSE: To transfer a resilient belt form article such as an unvulcanized rubber coated nonwoven fabric to from one step to the next step which is shifted from the one step in phase, by a method wherein a transfer device having a transfer head suspended to be capable of reciprocating and swiveling is provided between the devices shifted in phase.

CONSTITUTION: A rack 113 is moved forwards and backwards by operating a cylinder 112, and a pinion gear 114 and a sprocket 115 are rotated, whereby a chain 116 is moved forward and backwards so that the transfer head 300 fitted to the chain 116 is reciprocated. In this manner, a belt form article lifted from the transfer device and supported by the head 300 is moved toward a receiving- side device, and is stopped at a predetermined position by a position adjusting mechanism. The head 300 is swiveled during or after the movement, and is adjusted by a swivel check mechanism so as to conform to the moving direction of the receiving-side device. Then, the belt form article is placed on the receiving-side device to finish the transfer.
