Abstract:

To provide a method and an apparatus for treating contaminants capable of reducing an initial cost of facilities that detoxify contaminants containing undegradable hazardous organic compounds such as dioxins with a supercritical water oxidation decomposition process and improving decomposition efficiency.

A step for extracting the hazardous organic compounds from the contaminants with supercritical carbon dioxide as an extracting solvent and adsorbs the hazardous organic compounds in the supercritical carbon dioxide with an adsorbent with an activated carbon adsorbing tank 2 as a reactor for condensation and decomposition processing, and a step oxidatively decomposing the hazardous organic compounds adsorbed in the adsorbent with the supercritical water are executed.
