Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat fumigation exhaust gas without using a large-sized blower by a method in which methyl bromide in the exhaust gas is adsorbed by active carbon, the active carbon is regenerated by desorbing with hot air of a relatively low temperature, and the desorbed methyl bromide is discharged into the air little by little not to cause pollution.
SOLUTION: Fumigation exhaust gas containing methyl bromide is led from fumigation houses 1A, 1B to adsorption columns 14A, 14B through an exhaust gas damper 11 and a change-over damper 12, and the methyl bromide is adsorbed by active carbon. Next, the change-over dampers 12, 13 are closed, air sucked from a suction valve 16 is heated stepwise to 90-130°C by a desorption heater in a methyl bromide desorption apparatus 15, air of a relatively low temperature is introduced forcibly into the columns 14A, 14B through a flow direction control valve 17 to desorb the methyl bromide from the active carbon. A small amount of the methyl bromide is discharged into the air from an exhaust gas cylinder 20 while the discharge being watched with a methyl bromide monitor.
