Abstract:
To provide a method and an apparatus for treating waste water which enable the maintenance of devices for a long period of time and the reduction of running costs.
When organic substances in the waste water 1 is electrochemically decomposed, an anion exchange membrane 14 is put between an anode 12 and a cathode 13 to inhibit the movement of metal ions, thereby preventing metal from being deposited and stuck to the cathode 13. By using a diamond electrode as the anode 12, the organic substances are decomposed at high electric potential without adding a chlorine compound, and, even in an acidic solution, the generation of chlorine-based poisonous gas is prevented to efficiently perform the treatment.
