Title:
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR UTILIZING PARTIALLY GASIFIED COAL FOR REMOVAL OF MERCURY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2006000847
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To produce an absorbent for capturing mercury (Hg) contained in a flue gas produced during combustion of coal.

The method is used for trapping mercury in the flue gas produced during combustion of a solid fuel. The method comprises burning coal (12) so that mercury discharged during combustion is transferred on the flow of the flue gas produced during the combustion, partially gasifying the solid fuel in a local gasifying apparatus (42) in the combustion of the solid fuel to produce the heat activation carbon-containing absorbent, injecting a gasification gas product into the combustion of coal (46), injecting the heat activation absorbent into the flue gas (26), and recovering the injected absorbent in waste treatment systems (28, 34).
