Abstract:

To make it unnecessary to remove nitrogen-containing organic resin compositions from waste in advance to enable treatment of the waste containing the nitrogen resin compositions by introducing oxygen gas together with an organic gas containing nitrogen into a catalytic reaction tank.

Gas generated in a heating furnace 1 is made to pass through a catalytic reaction tank 2 by a blower 5 interposed in an exhaust gas pipe 4 of the catalytic reaction tank 2 and is released into atmospheric air. Platinum catalyst 6 and a heater 7 which heats the catalytic reaction tank 2 are provided on the catalytic reaction tank 2. A pipe line 3 is provided with a branched pipe 3a halfway and oxygen is fed to the pipe line 3 through the branched pipe 3a from an oxygen cylinder 8. By using such an apparatus, foamed polyurethane resin pieces 9 are fed to the heating furnace 1 and are heated and dry- distilled in a substantially oxygen-free state and generated gas is decomposed in the catalytic reaction tank 2 to measure cyanogen concentration in a waste gas. First, measurement is carried out without feeding oxygen gas through the branched pipe 3a and then change of the cyanogen gas concentration is measured by feeding the oxygen by increasing oxygen feed amount stepwise.
