To suppress the damage to the hair, to improve the finish and to maintain a well shaped state by treating the hair with strongly electrolytic acidic water during the time of both treatments at the time of applying the cold permanent wave to the hair by successively treating the hair with plural treating agents consisting of a reducing agent for cold permanent wave and an oxidizing agent.
The hair is first treated by the treating agent consisting of the reducing agent for treating agent, i.e., the reducing agent for reducingly cutting the S-S bond of the hair protein. Next, the hair is treated by the treating agent likewise consisting of the oxidizing agent, i.e., the oxidizing agent for oxidatively rebonding the S-S bond. The hair may be previously treated with the strongly electrolytic alkaline water. The strongly electrolytic acidic water signifies water of a pH below 2.7 and oxidation reduction potential above +1000 mV. On the other hand, the strongly eletrolytic alkaline water signifies the water of the oxidation reduction potential below -800 mV.
