Abstract:
To provide a method for applying heat to a molten metal pot that is, when a gap produced between the pot body of a molten metal pot, such as a molten iron pot and a ladle used in a steel making process, and a pot cover is shielded, and heat is applied to the inside of the molten metal pot using heat application means, capable of preventing the air passing through the gap from the atmosphere and infiltrating into the molten metal pot, further reducing the loss of radiation passing through the gap from the inside of the molten metal pot to be released to the atmosphere, and reducing the using amount of fuel used upon application of heat to the inside of the molten metal pot.SOLUTION: A method for applying heat to a molten metal pot 1 has a process where shielding means 4 is fitted to the outer circumference of the upper part of the molten metal pot 1 having: a pot body 2 having an opened upper part and charged with a molten metal including a molten iron or a molten steel; and a pot cover 3 covered from the upper direction and covering the opening of the pot body 2, a gap 6 produced between the pot body 2 and the pot cover 3 is shielded, and heat is applied to the inside of the molten metal pot 1 fitted with the shielding means 4 using heat application means 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
