Abstract:

PURPOSE: To facilitate masking work in application of anticorrosive coating etc., by attaching masking material composed of polystyrene foam having independent foams and density of 12.5-50g/l to a metal structure through a tacky layer.

CONSTITUTION: A masking material 13 is such that on both sides of a plate 13A composed of polystyrene foam having independent foams therein and with density of 12.5-50g/l grooves 13B are formed in a tessellated form, while a tacky layer 13C is formed over the whole surface on one side of the plate, over which a mold-releasing sheet 13D is applied. After mold-releasing sheets 13D are removed from the masking material 13, the masking material is torn along the grooves 13B to form it into a piece of material according to the size of an area 2 of a metal structure 1, to which treatment for preventing rust, noise, and vibration should not be applied, whereby the material is put to the area 2 through the tacky layer 13C. After formation of coating layer 4, the material is separated manually by means of a hook 9. Configurations of masking material 13 are prepared based on the shape of metal structures to be coated. In this manner, masking work can be easily performed.
