Abstract:

To reduce the torque of and raise the operating performance of internal combustion engines in the case of their drive slip control by controlling their intake or exhaust valve, or intake or exhaust system geometry in view of torque reduction.

A control unit 10 for controlling an internal combustion engine can control at least the fuel metering/supply via an output line 12 or the ignition timing or angle via an output line 16. An output line 20 is particularly used to cause at least one setting element or solenoid valve 22 to control the geometry of the intake and/or exhaust system, or the opening time of the intake and/or exhaust valve in view of torque reduction. The internal combustion engine is thus improved in operating performance in the event of engine torque reduction by way of injection stops and/or ignition timing during drive slip control.
