PURPOSE: To obtain a desired three-dimensional woven fabric without deforming yarn arranging pins in yarn turning back parts by turning back and arranging plural yarn layers through liftable and lowerable engaging pins arranged on the outer periphery of the yarn arranging pins at a prescribed pitch among the yarn arranging pins and replacing the above-mentioned yarn arranging pins with vertical yarns.
CONSTITUTION: Engaging pins 3 liftable and lowerable by cylinders 4 are arranged at the same pitch as that of many yarn arranging pins 1 for regulating the arrangement of yarn 6 to a shape corresponding to a required three-dimensional woven fabric on the periphery of a substrate 2 in which the above-mentioned yarn arranging pins 1 are erected at the prescribed pitch. The engaging pins 3 are lifted to engaging positions above the pins 1. In the state of the engaging pins 3 lifted to the engaging positions, the yarn 6 fed through a tension regulator 5 is arranged in a turned back form so as to pass along the interval between the pins 1 while moving a yarn feeding head 7. The engaging pins 3 are then lowered to disengaging positions under the substrate 2 to release the engagement of the yarn with the engaging pins 3. The yarn turning back parts are engaged with the outermost pins 1. The above-mentioned operations are repeated to form yarn layers. The plural yarn layers are laminated and the pins 1 are subsequently replaced with vertical yarns to afford the desired three-dimensional woven fabric.
