To obtain a method and structure for adjusting a tilt display device in an imaging apparatus, the method and structure eliminating deviation of a roll angle of an imaging device and an acceleration sensor with respect to an exterior cover and allowing the tilt display device to rightly display tilt as zero when the imaging apparatus is horizontal, thereby giving a sense of ease to a user.

The imaging apparatus has: a lens barrel unit 8 including the imaging device 101 for converting incident light from a photographing optical system into an electric signal; the exterior cover 1 for positioning the lens barrel unit 8; the display section 11 for a captured image; the acceleration sensor 111; a calculator for calculating a tilt of the imaging apparatus based on output of the acceleration sensor 111; and a tilt display device for displaying the calculated tilt on the display section 11. A method of assembling the imaging apparatus includes the steps of: adjusting a relative roll angle of the imaging device 101 with respect to the exterior cover 1 and fixing the imaging device 101 on the exterior cover 1; and calibrating a tilt of the acceleration sensor 111 with respect to the imaging device 101.
