Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prepare a composite material comprising an arom. polyamide fiber and a rubber and having a high bonding strength between the fiber and the rubber and a high resistance to bending fatigue by dipping the fiber in a specific liq., then treating the fiber with a specific liq. mixture, and bonding the fiber and an unvulcanized rubber compsn. while vulcanizing the compsn. simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:An arom. polyamide fiber is treated with a soln. contg. 100 pts.wt. epoxy compd. having at least one epoxy group in the molecule, 1-100 pts.wt. lip. rubber, and 5-20 pts.wt. blocked polyisocyanate (the first step.), then treated with a liq. resolcin-formalin-rubber latex mixture (the second step), and bonded to a rubber compsn. while vulcanizing the compsn. simultaneously (the third step). The resulting composite material has a high bonding strength between the fiber and the rubber and a high resistance to bending fatigue, and the above method is suitable for bonding the fiber and the rubber in preparing products of dynamic use, such as a power transmission belt, a conveyor belt, or a tire.
