PURPOSE: To bulge glass plate with high accuracy without damaging the deposits, etc., of their surfaces by carrying the glass plates heated to a high temp. by means of a conveyor, holding the rear surfaces with a table, turning over the glass plates and placing the glass plates on a bulging mold.
CONSTITUTION: The glass plate 2 heated to a high temp. in a reheating furnace 1 is carried into a bulging cell 3 by means of the conveyor 5 having rollers 6 and is positioned on the conveyor part 5' having the rollers 14 of a table 7. The rollers 14 are then lowered into a groove 20 to place the glass plate on the surface 19 of the table 7. A negative pressure is applied in this state on the glass plate 2 via a suction system built into the caisson 21 of the table 7 to attract and capture the glass plate at the rear surface to the surface 19. The table 7 is rotated in this state around a swiveling shaft 8 to turn over the glass plate 2 so as to bring the rear surface onto the upper position and to place the glass plate on the bulging mold 9 having a prescribed sectional shape. An upper opposite mold 10 is then lowered to press the glass plate 2 to mechanically bulge the glass plate and, thereafter, the glass plate is transferred by a frame 50 for transportation into a hardening furnace 4.
