PURPOSE: To obtain a secondary combustion having good efficiency by specifying ratio of cavity depth on molten iron (molten steel) surface developed by top blowing gas jet and depth of the molten iron and blowing so that gas jet from furnace belly part does not directly reach to the molten iron surface.
CONSTITUTION: In the top blowing converter 2 arranging side blowing tuyeres 1 at the furnace belly part, the ratio L/L0 of the cavity depth L on the molten iron or the molten steel developed by the oxygen gas jet blown from the top blowing lance 3 and the depth L0 of the molten iron or the molten steel is to be ≤0.4. Together with this, by blowing under condition, which the oxygen gas jet from the side blow tuyere 1 does not directly reach to the molten iron or molten steel surface, CO gas in the converter 2 is burnt. By this method, reducing reaction of CO2 is efficiently executed.
