Abstract:

To obtain a method for operating an tangential inlet fuel nozzle at a lean fuel/air ratio in which low NOx and low CO can be achieved without causing unstability of combustion.

First part of combustion air is introduced to the mixing section 28 of a fuel nozzle 10 and the fuel is introduced to the first part of combustion air and mixed therewith. Second part of combustion air is introduced radially inward to the first part of combustion air at the burner inlet port 20 of a scroll swirler 14. Total air flow rate of the first and second part of combustion air is limited and the second part of combustion air is set at 85-89% of the total air flow rate.
